If you have just changed your e-mail address in your profile, then find you cannot log in: When you change your e-mail address, your account will be automatically de-activated and needs to be re-activated. You will be notified of this immediately upon submitting the changed profile. An e-mail will be sent to the new address with the subject "Reactivate your account". It is important to read that e-mail and follow the instructions. That e-mail contains a link with an activation key which must be used before you can log into the forum again.
If the link in the e-mail does not work, be sure you are using the entire link. It will end with "act_key=" followed by a series of characters. That's the activation key and it must be in that link. If you're not getting the entire link, copy and paste it into your web browser making sure you include that key. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USE A PHONE OR MOBILE DEVICE FOR THIS. These devices can break up the link with the activation key so you don't get the complete URL, in which case it may not work correctly. Try holding it in the landscape position (so the screen is wider than it is high) and/or copy and paste the entire link into your web browser. If it still does not reactivate your account, use a computer.
The link will look like this:
Code: | http://www.hummernetworkforums.com/profile.php?mode=activate&u=3441&act_key=b909da55 |
Note that it ends with "act_key=" followed by a string of characters. That part must be complete. If line-wrap causes even one of those characters to carry over onto another line, the link will not work properly. Be sure you use the entire link.
If you are taken to the log-in screen when clicking on the reactivation link, you are not getting the entire link. Look for any stray characters on the next line. This is a common problem, so make sure every last character is included in the link.
If you still cannot get the link to work, contact the forum admin and ask for your account to be manually reactivated.
If you did not receive the "Reactivate your account" e-mail, you may have entered your new e-mail address incorrectly. If the forum displays a message saying that the e-mailing has failed, it means you have entered an invalid e-mail address. If that's the case, contact the forum admin.
You will also need to reactivate your account in the same way if you have changed your password in your profile. |
