16 bits ...even I get it
(2 to the 16th) -1
If you multiply 2 by itself 16 times, you get 65536 .... if you number each one starting from 0, then they would be 0 .... 65535.
Represents a -1 in 2's complement form ...Usually a sign of an uninitialized variable ... _________________ Current: Yellow Wagon - 1998 TD: May 2015

No, not a member of anything organized.
That 16 bits is like this:
0101 1111 0011 1111
The left most 0, (it could be a one) gives a net value of 0 or 1 (2^0).
The second bit has a net value of 0 or 2 (2^1), the third bit 0 or 2^2 = 4.
Finally the last bit is 2^15 (32,768) so if there are all toggled high (1's)
you add those individual totals together.
Here's a program.
X=0
for J=0 to 15
X=X+(2^J)
endfor
?X
65,535
I don't know why the HML tossed that, but any geek recognizes that as a 2 ^ <some bit/byte multiple) _________________ Always cut on the cheapest part. |

Is this a serious question? If so, it should be posted under Forum-Related Questions.
If this is not a serious question, it should be posted in the Off-Topic Forum.
Which is it?
Whichever it is, this is not about H1s or HMMWVs. _________________ Serving the Hummer community since 1996 |
