I haven't been getting email notification for topics that I am following. Is that still working?

Now that this is under "Forum-Related Questions"....

There has been some problem with this since moving the forum to a new server in September. I had the same problem myself. I changed my e-mail address in my profile and that fixed it.

If you have another e-mail address you can use, change it in your profile. If you don't, let me know and I can set up an alias e-mail address for you which will auto-forward forum messages to your regular address.

Thanks.

There is some work being done on this over the holiday weekend. Stay tuned.

Passwords are encrypted for security, so not even I can retrieve them. Just use the "I forgot my password" option on the log-in form and a new password will be e-mailed to you automatically.

oops. Sorry for putting this in the wrong spot. I don't have another email that I use. That fancy forwarding thing you spoke of sounds great, if you have the time. Otherwise I can wait for the bugs to get worked out.

This is proving to be a tough nut to crack, but we're still working on it. If anyone wants an alias address set up, even temporarily, please let me know.

The same problem may exist for e-mail notices of Private Messages.

Thanks.

...Bob

With other forums that use this same software and you are following a thread the email notice contains the replied thread thus eliminating the need to go log back in. Can you activate that feature?

Sorry, but that is not an option or a feature of this forum software. If it was, it would be turned on. In fact, there isn't even an administrative option to turn e-mail notifications on/off for the entire board. That is left to individual users. There is a checkbox when you post a message or reply that says "Notify me when a reply is posted". That is what it is, notification.

Use the "Log me in automatically..." option on the log-in form and the link in the notice will take you immediately to the thread/reply.

One more note about reply notifications:

If you don't click on the link in the notification e-mail, you will receive no further notifications. I can't speak for the developers of this software, but the thinking behind this might be that, if a large number of replies is posted since you last checked your e-mail, you won't be inundated with a large number of reply notification e-mails.

As a result, you may follow the link in a reply notification e-mail and find that more than one reply has been posted.

If you are closely following a forum thread, you should use the link in the reply notification e-mail if you wish to keep receiving them as more replies are posted.
