MESSAGES POST THE FIRST TIME!
It may occasionally take a little time for the next page to generate AFTER you have submitted a post. The forum will sometimes "hang" during this process. When this occurs, it does not mean that your message did not post. Please be do not hit the "Submit" button more than once. Doing so may result in your message posting twice or more.
If you double-post when starting a new topic, you will start multiple new topics!. PLEASE AVOID THIS ESPECIALLY!
Duplicate posts with attachments are particularly problematic. If the duplicate post is deleted, the attachment(s) will be lost from the original post. That's because the original and the dupe(s) refer to the same attachments. PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON "SUBMIT" MORE THAN ONCE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE ADDED ATTACHMENTS TO YOUR POST.
If you are in doubt whether or not your message has posted, open a new browser window or tab and look to see if it has posted before trying to submit the same post a second time or more. You'll find it has posted.
Please remember that the main Hummer forums are linked to mailing lists. When you submit a post, it goes out to the associated mailing list immediately. If you double-post, you can go back and delete the duplicate on the forum, but it has already gone out to the mailing list twice. It will also appear in the mailing list digest twice, and the digests are archived. That means your duplicate post has just become part of the permanent archive. This is why it is very important to avoid duplicate posting. |
