When you start a new topic or reply to an existing one, you are taken to the Message Composer. There is a series of buttons that looks like this:
These buttons supply tags in what is called BBCode. Each button supplies both opening and closing tags which affect the text between them. The text that comes between the tags is determined by selecting/highlighting the text you want affected. As you mouse over each button, the tags it supplies are shown, along with the function of that button.
To use one of these buttons, just highlight the text you want affected and click on the button. It's as easy as that.
For example, if I want the phrase "easy as that" in the above paragraph to be in bold print, I would highlight it like this:
and click on the "B" (for Bold) button. It then would look like this in the message composer:
and the result would be:
It's as easy as that.
This also applies to "Font colour" and "Font size".
Just be sure to leave all tags intact. If you delete any part, including a bracket, it won't work. It's always a good idea to preview your post before submitting it to make sure you are getting what you intend.
Play with this in the test forum. It's much easier to do than it is to explain. You will get the hang of it pretty quickly.
VERY IMPORTANT: Do NOT disable BBCode in your profile. Under "Preferences" there's a line that says "Always allow BBCode:" with checkboxes. Please keep that set to "Yes".
